Dezember 12th, 2009
- You are chatting with Verdell R., a MobileMe Support Representative
- Hi, my name is Verdell R.. Welcome to Apple!
- Stefan Gilgen:Hi
- Verdell R.:Hello Stefan. Thank you for contacting MobileMe chat.
- Stefan Gilgen:looks helpful
- Verdell R.:I see you are having trouble with MobileMe gallery films playing on your iphone, is that correct?
- Stefan Gilgen:Jepp, http://gallery.me.com/blitzdonner/100297 entered on the iPhone seems to do nothing
- Verdell R.:Have you contacted us here at MobileMe chat before about this?
- Stefan Gilgen:No
- Stefan Gilgen:One can repeat this by swithcing user agent settings on safari to mobile Safari
- Verdell R.:Just one moment while I review your account information please.
- Stefan Gilgen:ok
- Verdell R.:I’m sorry for the delay. I’ll be right with you.
- Verdell R.:Stefan, this is a matter that would be handled by iPhone = 800-MY-IPHONE (800-694-7466), the movie is posted on MobileMe but will not play on your iphone, is that correct?
- Stefan Gilgen:More or less. In fact the movie is ok. it’s just the fact, that once u try to access the site by iPhone (Mobile Safari) it switches to a different site e.g. http://gallery.me.com/iphone/blitzdonner/100297. But there is absolutely nothing published.
- Stefan Gilgen:So it is not the iPhone producing the problem but mobileMe
- Verdell R.:Does your iphone sync?
- Stefan Gilgen:sure
- Verdell R.:Okay, your iphone synce, can you find the movie on the web?
- Stefan Gilgen:Yes, if I use Safari! NO if I use MobileSafari
- Stefan Gilgen:Because MobileMe does the switch once you try to access the site by MobileSafari. But the site it switches to is just empty.
- Verdell R.:Okay, the Mobile Safari is the mobile application, not MobileMe.
- Stefan Gilgen:Yes. MobileSafari is the browser integrated by Apple into the iPhone.
Stefan Gilgen: Actually it’s Mobile Safari 3.1.2 i guess
Verdell R.: That is a supported feature on your iphone, thus you would need to contact iPhone = 800-MY-IPHONE (800-694-7466), for assistance with this issue.
Stefan Gilgen: No
Stefan Gilgen: it’s not about the iPhone
Stefan Gilgen: its Mobile Me not parsing anything on the mobile site
Stefan Gilgen: Just have a look here: http://gallery.me.com/iphone/blitzdonner/100297
Stefan Gilgen: See, nothing published
Verdell R.: Was the filme published, are you able to view it on me.com?
Stefan Gilgen: Yes
Verdell R.: I’ll be right with you.
Verdell R.: On that site I see Cervo Voreroffnung, is that the film?
Stefan Gilgen: right
Verdell R.: Thank you for waiting. I’ll be with you in just a moment.
Verdell R.: Now that we have verified that the site is published, you would need to contact iphone, the issue is with your iphone not MobileMe, the film is posted, and you are able to sync with your iphone then you would need to contact iphone for assistance with this issue.
Stefan Gilgen: Does MobileMe has a browser switch integrated?
Stefan Gilgen: So it serves different sites for different browsers?
Verdell R.: No that is not a feature of MobileMe.
Stefan Gilgen: Yes it is! If you enter the adress “http://gallery.me.com/blitzdonner/100297” into Mobile Safari then the server sends you to “http://gallery.me.com/iphone/blitzdonner/100297“!
Verdell R.: That is the Safari server that switches the browser, not MobileMe.
Stefan Gilgen: What is a Safari server?
Verdell R.: Safari is the web browser that is used by the iphone to access the Internet.
Stefan Gilgen: Right, but what is a Safari SERVER?
Verdell R.: I’ll be right with you.
Verdell R.: Safair is the Internet browser such as firefox, Internet explorer.
Stefan Gilgen: Obviously the mobileMe server realizes that an iPhone with Mobile Safari tries to reach a site on the mobileMe server and decides to serve a different site for this browser. But this site is empty! That’s the problem here.
Verdell R.: Thank you for waiting. I’ll be with you in just a moment.
Verdell R.: This is an issue that would need to be directed to iphone, I do apologise that this may be a frustrating situation in having to contact iphone but this issue is beyond the scope of support for MobileMe, and would need to be handled by iphone.
Stefan Gilgen: Never mind, forget it. Have a nice day.
Verdell R.: Stefan, I am not attempting to be difficult in this matter, but with the information that you have provided this is a problem that our iphone department would be able to assist you with.
Verdell R.: Does that information provide assistance with the reason that you contacted chat?
Stefan Gilgen: No
